Space Patrol – The Ralston Rocket – (1955) (DVD)

$9.98

Space Patrol was a pioneering Science Fiction television show. It debuted in March of 1950 and ran 5 days a week for most of 1950 and 6 days a week most weeks until it’s demise in 1955. They didn’t take off for summer breaks or holidays. For a while they also produced a twice weekly radio show with the same crew. Every episode was broadcast live, with no reshoots. Video tape hadn’t been invented yet, so they didn’t really have a choice. Television preservation from these early days of TV is really sparse and dicey. Somewhere around 1500 episodes of this show were produced, but less than 300 are in circulation today.

The DVDs we sell here feature some of the most well remembered episodes of this sci-fi classic.

This disc also contains clips from The Betty White show and episodes of rival series Tom Corbett, Space Cadet. TCSC is unique for being the only television program of the era to appear on all four networks (including the now defunct DuMont.)
