The question we get asked the most is What Happened to Ellijay Coffeehouse? The short answer is: Nothing. We’re the same folks, in the same location, serving the same coffee. Come see us at 131 N Main St, in Ellijay GA (30540).
The longer answer is a little more complicated.
When my wife and I took over Ellijay Coffeehouse during the 2020 lockdown, Ellijay looked a lot different than it does today. There were no other independent coffee shops, there were no local bakeries, there were not very many places folks could go to plug in a laptop and sit for a few hours.
In 2024, the world looks a lot different! There are three new, excellent bakeries in town (one right across the street from us!) and another coffee shop recently opened two blocks up the road. That’s a lot for a town with a population under 5,000!
At the same time, we opened The Ellijay Makerpsace and added a lot of space for folks to get together and work.
Simply put, the times they are a’changin’. The things that the Ellijay Coffeehouse had provided for the last 10 years were suddenly less relevant.
So we’re changing with the times. We’ve made some minor renovations to our beautiful, historic building, we’ve added a bookstore, records, local art, and more, and we’ve started roasting our own coffee.
We’re really proud of this space, and we hope you will be too!
