Battle Beyond the Stars – (Blu-ray)

It’s The Magnificent 7 in space. Of course, The Magnificent 7 was just 7  Samurai in the old west. Features frankly incredible special effects from a young James Cameron. It’s probably Corman’s most successful film. Less sleazy than most of the rest (not completely devoid of sleaze, mind you, but that’s not what you come to this film.)

Corman would re-use the special effects shot from this film in half a dozen others to great effect, but this is the original appearance and it works even better than the rest.
